A talented athlete, Dan set the school record in the 300-meter hurdles at Kootenai High School, graduating as Valedictorian in 1995.

Dan pursued his love of problem-solving at Gonzaga University, earning a Civil Engineering degree, where his intelligence, work ethic, and determination first became evident.
